Finally Done!

I have finally finished the project! Here is a picture of the finished version:
Although you will see it tomorrow, I felt I should keep one on my blog!
Thanks for reading!
Today, I applied the super glaze on top of all the layers in my river. It dried, and I will put a little bit of white paint to make it look like its flowing.

Over the past few days, I made natural and man-made things to border the river. First, I built the Garden State Pkwy on top of the river, with cardboard and black construction paper. Next, I put reindeer moss around my river for grass. Then, to make Belleville Park, for the trees, I took twigs, and wrapped them in moss. Then I made a bench and the park was ready!. Next I made the Watsessing Park on the opposite side, but this time only with moss. Next, to Watsessing Park is Locust Ave., which is one of the streets I included. I also put 2 self-storage buildings(that actually are there) made out of erasers and black construction paper.

3rd step

Today I made a mixture of light blue
nail polish and clear liquid glue to make the water. Here is a picture of the river without the "water" yet:

Now that I have made the outline of the river, I
will start filling it up. I will add rocks, sticks,
small pieces of Styrofoam, and fake pieces of moss,
to make the river look polluted. Here is a picture:

Next, I will add the things to make it looks polluted,
and pour the rest of the river into the clay borders.

2nd step of creating 3D Model of the Second River

Today I worked on making the side slopes of the river. I cut Styrofoam from large pieces and carved jagged rock-looking pieces. Next, I painted them with gray, green, and other colors to make them look like they were large pieces of rock jammed together. I used green to make it look like moss and grass. Then, on the back of the large Styrofoam pieces, I cut up some fake grass, and glued them on. Fourth, I positioned them next to the river, and glued them on. Afterwards, I cut small pieces of Styrofoam and painted them gray to make them look like boulders. Since the end of the river is a large hook, I decided not to cut any Styrofoam for that, and put boulders instead.

1st step of creating 3D River Model

Today, I started my river project by drawing out the river onto a large piece of foam board. Next, I took different shades of green and bordered the side of the river, so that when I add the "water" to the river, it wont leak out. I used the color green, because when I add the Styrofoam to the sides of the river, I will add fake grass to the sides.
These are some of the things that I will do to make this project(not in order):

  • Cutting Styrofoam to make the sides of the river
  • Filling up the river
  • Making grass
  • Making Garden State Parkway(Maybe)
